Her main research interests have been high-energy particle acceleration and radiation processes in pulsars, highly magnetized neutron stars (magnetars), gamma-ray bursts, and supernova remnants. Harding works as part of astrophysics collaborations including the NICER Science Team, the Fermi Collaboration and AMEGO.
